Lyme Disease --Under Our Skin Movie-- Call to Action -

by
Blesski - Reply
Hi folks,
Under Our Skin will be shown on some PBS stations in May for Lyme disease month,
it is NOT now scheduled for Channel 13 in NYC.
I just spoke with the customer relations/programming office and was told that
the movie is on their list of programs to consider, but there has not been a
decision to show it on Channel 13. He said four or five hundred emails could
encourage them to show the film
ACTION REQUESTED:
1) Please email PBS at programming@thirteen.org.
---Please include the title Under Our Skin on the subject line.
---Make sure your first sentence includes the request that they show Under Our
Skin and show it in prime time hours.
---You can leave your message just at that request, or add any other
info that you think might interest them. (e.g.: the fact that it's an award
winning movie; the extent of the epidemic in NY; the seriousness of the illness
coupled with the common lack of understanding of the illness.)
Copied and pasted from another forum; it is a direct quote.

This is NOT a recall. All of these cribs are banned, they cannot be sold, resold, traded etc. This was effective mid December 2010. New standards go into effect June 2011.
Some manufacturers have a retrofit kit to make the sides stationary.
Use caution when purchasing used cribs!!!

Unplanned Parenthood Webcast-Unprecedented Info!! -

Blesski - Reply
Hi All,
I am already registered to watch. I for one, used Planned Parenthood for years for my annuals and birth control because I had no insurance. For that I am deeply grateful for. However....
On January 11, 2011, former Planned Parenthood
director and 2008 "employee of the year" Abby Johnson
will FINALLY be able to reveal all the secrets from
behind the closed doors of the abortion business ...
and why she left to join the pro-life movement!
After winning the legal battle against a massive
Planned Parenthood lawsuit and restraining order --
which was intended to silence her -- Abby is finally
able to blow the whistle on her former employer and
reveal ALL the shocking details of her conversion.
Abby's entire story has never been revealed publicly
... UNTIL NOW!
On Tuesday, January 11, Abby's story will be released
to the world in a landmark book, UNPLANNED, published
jointly by Tyndale House, Focus on the Family, and
Ignatius Press. It's going to be huge!
One night before -- on Monday, January 10, at 9 PM
Eastern (8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, 6 PM Pacific)
-- YOU are invited to join Abby for a live webcast
"sneak preview" of the no-holds-barred revelations
which fill the pages of her book. I'll be on it!
Join me on the FREE online event at:
http://www.UnplannedWebcast.com/sba
During the webcast, you will discover ...
* What initially attracted Abby to volunteer and
then work for Planned Parenthood -- America's
largest abortion chain -- even after being raised
in a faithful Christian home
* The hidden personal secret that Abby had kept
buried for years
* The shocking discovery that suddenly caused Abby
to question everything Planned Parenthood had told
her over eight years
* Planned Parenthood's confidential plans to expand
its biggest money-maker -- abortion -- all across
America
* The abortion industry's furious reaction when Abby
decided to quit her job and join local and
national pro-life efforts
* What Abby's court battle brought to light about
Planned Parenthood's REAL agenda
* The single most effective way to reduce Planned
Parenthood's abortion business and change the
hearts and minds of clinic workers
You won't want to miss this eye-opening webcast!
The announcement about this event is being sent to
hundreds of thousands of people around the world, and
there is limited space available.

New Local Family Farm... J&A Bialas Farm in Goshen -
2 years ago
by
Kat - Reply
Hi everyone, One of our very own Nature Strollers families has realized their dream of having their own farm. Please visit Jeff and Adina Bialas's new farm website (J&A Bialas Farm), and help support our friends as they embark on this wonderful adventure! An excerpt from the site: Welcome to J&A Bialas Farm! We grow vegetables, sustainably and thoughtfully, on our farm in Goshen New York’s famous black dirt region. 2010 is the first year of this new farm and we are building it from the ground up. Starting off with decades of prior farming and marketing and food industry experience and a lot of big, bold ideas about what growing food for our community means. We have a beautiful swath of rich black dirt, a nice strong barn, and a lot of excitement and love for what we do and who we are doing it for. And of course the best bunch of customers and friends a person could ask for! Come visit us (and our vegetables) at one of our farmers markets, or join the CSA program for a seasonal harvest surprise basket every week from June through October. Keep checking the blog for news and stories about what we are doing, and for changes on the website too (bear with us, it’s still a work in progress). Contact us with any questions or comments at jabialasfarm@live.com. Thanks to everyone who has helped us make this dream possible, all of the friends who have lent a hand or an ear or offered kind words and encouragement, this is your farm too. See you soon, Your farmers, Jeff & Adina J&A Bialas Farm was founded in 2010 by husband and wife team, Jeff and Adina Bialas. Jeff has been farming since he was a little boy on his parent’s vegetable farm not far from where J&A Bialas Farm is today. Adina was already a life-long farmers market shopper when she met Jeff at her farmers market in NYC. After years of casual market pleasantries, they realized that although they were from two different worlds, they had much in common. They fell in love, married and had 2 wonderful children. In their spare time they dreamed of one day owning their own farm.

HEY EVERYONE!! Get out to Goosepond Mountain State Park Created Wetlands FAST!!! The American Toads are out there... and so are their strands of eggs! It is WAY earlier than we usually see them, so try to get out for this if you can. Ginny saw a virtual orgy of toads on Sunday but when we were there on Monday and heard a few but didn't see any. Laurel went on Tuesday and saw about 30 pairs and tons of eggs... so get out and check it out! I'm going today! :) BTW, this also means that our trips scheduled to see the toads (4/17 and 4/25) will be tadpole and wildflower trips instead. See the Nature Strollers main web site for details.

Laurel and I went on their Vernal Pool workshop and saw a Two-lined Salamander and a Spotted Salamander, as well as a bunch of eggs in the pools. The Salamander walk at Fuller Mountain is something we've done in the past too, and enjoyed. From the OCLT: Our next scheduled outing is this Saturday, April 10, an easy to moderate hike up Schunnemunk Mountain! Then, on Saturday, April 24, the Land Trust will hold its very popular Slippery, Slimy Salamander Walk at Fuller Mountain Preserve in Warwick. Please visit our website at www.oclt.org for more information on these and our other upcoming events and educational outings. Laura does an awesome job keeping the unwanted bikes out of our landfills and I think it is very sad that there are people out there talking negative about what she does. As I said, we received a beautiful bike in good condition. My boys have been extremely happy with the bike and I am very supportive of Laura's hard work. Keep up the great work Laura!

Grafe's bike drive is run by a Laura Grafe. I'm currently working with 22 different police departments and 2 colleges. So far we have given away 635 bikes and saved the landfill 1108 bikes by recycling the metal. We are open from April to November. The past 3 years we have had over 21 different volunteers kids ranging from age from 13- 20. Trouble youth we are trying to help save. There is good and bad about going non profit. We got a small group of people who are harassing us. It would make my life alot harder to be non profit. More paper. I do not get paid for doing the bike drive. I have a small collection of bikes for my kids. We have been slandered enough. I mean accusing me of burning down a job i was not working at the time of the fire. come on guys. The people harassing us has made it very difficult to sell our adult bikes. Were not sure we can continue at the scale we did this year. We gave out 300 free bikes. Our expenses range from gas, lube, spray paint, chains, brake cable gear cable, numerous other parts, printer paper, cartridges, each volunteers makes $5.00 each bike sold, $20.00 each pickup. This year we bought a printer, fax, copier, and scanner. 1/2 the money was from the bike drive sales. This year we supplies 28 bikes to 7 different organizations so they could make money. I think it's sad out of all the people we have helped and 1 person kinda defending me. Shame on you people, to quick to judge. You are welcome to check us out and see the wonderful work we do in your community. The people harassing me. Are scrappers. I offered to buy there bikes at double what they get at the scrap yards. which was fair. I do not need to buy bikes. But sometimes when kids need them I do. To take care of kids on my list. The scrappers herd how much the bike drive made on them and got mad. Which I have never been dishonest about selling bikes. They knew. I herd him talk about wanting to do this himself. Go ahead. Now instead of me helping now you burned your bridge with me. The scrappers are mad because they are jealous. I think they need to spend less time trying to ruin are good name and more time helping our community. They hear how much I have made in the past scrapping not on bikes thats always been seperate and now I have made 6,000. lol. My husband does have a job you know. Get up off your butt and do something for our youth and landfill. Laura Grafe has a dream. One day I want to build a big indoor stadium that kids would run and learn how to fix there own bikes and skateboards. Bike Museum showing all our chopper bikes and antiques. Still do the bike drive out of the basement. Still sell adult bikes and parts for our expenses. Have it run by the skateboards and bicyclists. Wind bike solar & back up electric power. I need alot of money to build it would be a great right off for someone with money. All good. Recycling, getting kids off the street, teaching them to give and to reuse, recycle.
